Story of Two
© Sean McGaughey
May-June 2017
For my parents, Sharon and Raymond McGaughey on their 50th anniversary
G Bm C Am G D
V1
G
A couple of kids,
Bm
suitcases packed
C Am
A ladder through a milk door
G D
A Volkswagon Fastback
G
Across the state line
Bm
A judge nobody knew
C Am
A license, a promise
G D
A story of two
V2
The first years were hard
Paychecks were few
A boy came along
another made two
A couple of daughters
The family grew
Write another chapter
in a story of two
Chorus
C
One and one add up
Em
to much more than two
C
From love for each other
Em
A family grew
C Am
Good outweighed the hard times
Bm
They somehow scraped through
C Am
Adds up to a lifetime
G D
a story of two
V3
A house too full
for all of the troupe
An addition was built
It was not a chicken-coop
But then we moved on
From a town we outgrew
To replant and bloom
Is the story of two.
Chorus
Bridge
Bm
Half a century
C
Three generations
Bm
A dozen houses
C D
Too many cars to mention
Bm
Some days were long
C
But some years they flew
Am Am/G
Turned into more
G D
Than a story of two
V4
The kids walked in gowns
in provinces three
Then scattered each way
Across the country
Grandbabes arrived
The cycle renewed
Blood is thicker than highways
In this story of two.
Chorus
Tag
A couple of kids,
suitcases packed
A ladder through a milk door
A Volkswagon Fastback

|E7 | E7 | G7 | G7 |
| D | Dsus | D | D || (Repeat as needed)
Clouds on the Horizon, Storm's rolling in.
It creeps into me, I withdraw within
That's when I remember, the cause of my pain
I will never be with you (again), Must be the Rain
Days when the sun shines, I'm carrying on
I hardly notice the radio playing your favorite song.
I swear I can hear you, hum the refrain
But you're not here (anymore), must be the rain.
Must be the Rain, it echoes my tears
They've dried on the outside, but I'll keep them for years
Just when I was through crying, It's Happening again
Thought I was over losing you, Must be the rain (x3)

But there's something 'bout a song
F#m x2
that can touch the hardest heart
D x2
Bring people together

Even continents apart
Chorus
D E A
In the hands of an artist it's magic
D E A

Bridge the gulf between the earth and your dreams
A X2 F#m x2 Dx2 E x2

Sleepwalking
Words and music © Feb 24, 2016 Sean McGaughey and Joe Fahey-- revised Sept 16-16
G - Gsus X2,
She’s the kind that draws you in with just a wink.
G - Gsus X2,
Leaves boys wondering if to leap or think
CX4 G
With skin smooth and cold as the ice on the lake.
Cx4 D D7
Knows exactly how much and who she can take.
G - Gsus X2,
she’s prone to hijinx and shenanigans
G - Gsus X2,
Rides the car pool lane with her mannequins
CX4 G
got her tuition back from all her courses
Cx4 D D7
then went to the track and lost it on the horses
Chorus:
C D G
Eyes wide open, sleepwalking
C D
Neither coming nor goin’
G Dm
Praying for a soulmate
C D
To leave her alone
G - Gsus X2,
He’s got a heart of gold and not much else
G - Gsus X2,
Can never quite love someone as much as himself
CX4 G
Still thinks every girl thinks that he’s Mr. Right
Cx4 D D7
Wishing for one to call him Mr. tonight.
G - Gsus X2,
waiting for the phone to ring but it’s after nine
G - Gsus X2,
he kills some time with some fruit of the vine
CX4 G
Maybe he’s out of minutes , it’s happened before
Cx4 D D7
wish she’d just text him or break down the door
Chorus :
C D G
Eyes wide open, sleepwalking
C D
Neither coming nor goin’
G Dm
Praying for a soulmate
C D
To leave him alone
Bridge
Em Bm
Once upon a time , only yesterday (just today?)
Em Bm
In your neighbourhood , far far away
Em Bm
On an Odyssey , lonely hearts might meet tonight
C D D7
Or are they just drips passing in the night
G - Gsus X2,
it’s hard to be alone, waiting for that phone
G - Gsus X2,
to ring or to vibrate in your pocket
CX4 G
maybe I should be the one to call so I’m not alone
Cx4 D D7
True love or not, who’s gonna knock it?
Chorus: (both sing)
C D G
Eyes wide open, sleepwalking
C D
Neither coming nor goin’
G Dm
Praying for a soulmate
C D
To leave them alone
C D G
Eyes wide open, sleepwalking

Superheroes
Words and music: Feb 2, 2016 © Sean McGaughey
C F
In the comic books whenever somebody's in trouble,
C D
They light a secret signal and help comes on the double,
C F
When an evil mastermind has plans to steal all the dineros
C G C
You know they'll be thwarted by a superhero?
Chorus
F C
Some have superstrength, Others can fly
D7 G G
Some change into animals, some can read your mind
C F
But I have a burning question, I've searched far and wide.
C G C
Why do Superheroes wear their gonchies on the Outside?
Superman has a cape, Flash is really fast
Spidey wears pajamas, Hulk's rags barley cover his-- torso.
Iron Man has the best toys, Batman has a mask
And at costume parties Aquaman is always picked last.
Bridge
Am Em
The female superheroes have it worse than the guys
Am Em G
Stuffed into a costume that is far too small a size
C F
Another thing I've often wondered, I think it's really dumb
C G C
Why do superlady's costumes always show her boobs and bum?
