about

This was written as part of the Sin-Anti-syn challenge where you write a song that is a synthesis of the themes and music of two other songs.
I had the Syn for two incredible songs by Cake
by @gbg2016 fawm.org/songs/92641/
and (I Gotta) Run by @the3queens fawm.org/songs/93850/

Both were strong women describing the experiences of women in a raw, but lighthearted way.

All I was thinking of was... and Now the man comes in to mansplain the situation. Nuh 'uh. I never want to be THAT guy. So I gender bent the theme.

I hope i hit the mark and didn't come off tone deaf.

To be passed over for promotion by a woman half my age

A F#m
I take care to dress so I don’t attract, an unwelcome advance.
Bm E
Because every young boy learns they should not lead on a woman.
A F#m
I dreamt of being a boy astronaut, or a male congresswoman
Bm E
But my dreams evaporated when she left me for a younger man.

D
And if this song sounds odd, coming from a man

Switch the genders around, then you’ll understand.
